Sitter Wanted - Hiring Special Needs Care Attendant Asap (Experience With Infants Required)

Our family is looking for an experienced part-time care attendant for our two children, ages 1 and 4. The infant, soon to be toddler, has special needs and requires a bit of extra care and attentiveness (his needs do not fall outside of a typical infant his age). This could include, but not limited to, providing light physical therapy (ie working to help develop hip/leg mobility, range of motion), assisting with movement and activities, help getting around to certain areas of the home, coordinating & communicating with specialists that may come into the home to provide therapy.
The position is Monday‚ Thursday, for 2 hours each afternoon (some occasional Fridays may be asked). Applicants will be required to pick up both kids from the same school (in Lynchburg off Wards Rd, near 460 exit) between 4:30 - 5:00 pm, then return with them to our home (in Forest, 20 min trip) and stay with them until no later than 6:30 p.m. In addition to the above, the care attendant will help prepare a light snack, engage in appropriate playtime activities, feed and change the baby‚ s diapers as needed. The position has the potential for some periodic night or weekend work, but it is not a requirement. We have a $9-12/hr pay rate for this position, depending on agreed upon terms.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Meal/snack prep & feeding
- Changing diapers
- Preparing bottles
- Transporting kids (picking them up from school, occasionally bringing them to doctor/therapy appointments, etc.)
- Playtime/lessons (reading to them, doing crafts, etc.)
- Carrying over therapy procedures
- Must be comfortable with pets (2 mid-sized dogs, which will be kept in a separate room the majority of the time)
Example of daily after school care routine:
- Pick up both children from school between 4:30 - 5:00 pm Monday‚ Thursday and bring them home (after 5 pm is not acceptable with the school, so must be on time)
- Clean out backpack, setting aside any documents or items requiring our attention.
- Prepare a light snack for both kids, using items in the refrigerator and/or pantry. Light cleanup after snack time is appreciated, but housekeeping is not required.
- After snack time, engage both children in fun, age-appropriate games for the remainder of the afternoon. They enjoy puzzles, crafts, and storytime.
- Communicate with parents once you‚ ve arrived home with the kids, and anytime an issue arises that was not communicated to you by one of us prior to picking them up.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5 years‚ experience in babysitting.
- 18 years of age or older.
- A valid driver‚ s license; your own safe, reliable transportation and insurance; and a clean driving record.
- Three professional references from families you‚ ve worked for previously.
- Willing to provide information for a standard criminal background check, completed at our expense.
- Applicants with certification in first aid and/or CPR training will be given priority attention

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
